A Wet Summer Teaches You a Lot

Rain ruins more patios than poor materials ever will. I learned that working back home in Dublin, where the ground never fully dries out and a badly laid base will shift before the first winter is even done. (I spent three seasons laying for a lad whose brother played for Ballyboden St Enda’s, and the man was meticulous about falls, every single time.) Proper drainage and correct falls set into every surface we lay. That discipline came with me to Essex.

What We Lay and How We Work

We work across CM22 and the surrounding areas, covering most of north and mid Essex. Every job starts with the ground, not the surface. Get the sub-base wrong and nothing else matters.

The surfacing materials we work with include:

• Porcelain tiles, in both indoor-style and textured outdoor finishes
• Indian sandstone, which weathers well and ages honestly
• Concrete flagstones, solid and low-maintenance
• Natural limestone and slate paving
• Block paving for drives, paths and patios
• Reconstituted stone flags

Each material has its own demands. Porcelain needs a full bed. Sandstone wants room to breathe. We know how each one behaves through a wet Essex winter, and that knowledge matters more than any showroom pitch.

Beyond the Patio

We also handle work that naturally sits alongside a new patio. Fencing, walling, turfed lawns, artificial grass. It keeps things cleaner for the customer, one crew, one job, one tidy finish. Simple as that.

We do not rush installs. Rushing is how falls get set wrong and puddles appear where they should not. Irish rainfall taught me that the hard way.
