Great Notley Patios

What we do

Laying patios and paving is the core of what we do here, and we take it seriously. Every project starts with the ground itself, because no surface holds well without proper sub-base preparation and thought-through drainage.

Materials we work with

Over the years, the question I get asked most is whether to go with Yorkstone or Indian sandstone. Both have their place. Indian sandstone is warm, it suits most Essex gardens, the colours bed in beautifully over time. We also work with:

  • Porcelain tiles for low-maintenance, frost-resistant finishes
  • Liscannor flagstone where a client wants real character underfoot
  • Concrete flagstones for straightforward, durable results
  • Block paving for driveways and paths that need to handle traffic

Beyond the patio

A well-finished garden is rarely just the paving. We install timber fencing and garden walling to bring the whole space together. For lawns, we lay roll-on turf and artificial grass depending on what suits the site and how much maintenance a customer wants to take on.

How we work

When our team arrives on site, we assess the existing ground conditions before anything else. Sub-base compaction is tested to a minimum 150mm depth, edge restraints are set, and falls are calculated for surface water run-off. That groundwork is what separates a patio that lasts from one that shifts and settles within a season.

We cover Great Notley and across Essex, taking on jobs of most sizes. Residential gardens are our bread and butter, however we also work on larger landscaping projects when the scope suits us.
