We do a lot of full front garden makeovers. People want the fence, the wall, the surface, the lot, done by one crew who actually talk to each other. That makes sense to me.

One job that comes up more than you’d think: re-laying flags on a sunken path. It sounds minor, however a badly sunken path causes real drainage problems and trip hazards. We level the sub-base properly, not just lift and relay on sand.

Resin bound is popular right now, it drains through the surface so you stay compliant with permitted development rules. Block paving still has its place for edging definition. Tarmac is the honest workhorse, does the job without fuss. (We always say: a good tarmac drive is like a reliable car, nobody photographs it, but everyone’s glad it’s there.)
